It's a wonder I can think at all...

Tomorrow I begin my semester of student teaching.
Jordan Elementary and Canyon Vista Middle school here I come.
I'm scared.
Not sure if I'm scared because our every move around these students is going to be watched, scrutinized, and graded.... Or maybe I'm just scared of having such a responsible, real world routine that I am going to be thrown in to. Waking up at 6. Getting to school at 730 and staying until 3-4 every day of the week. Packing lunches. Brewing coffee. Not getting paid. Having a night seminar class and assignments to do on top of it.
Evelyn and I are also going to be leading two or three "English Corners" as part of some tutoring experience we need for Peace Corps. This means I will be meeting with 4-5 ESL students from UT two-three times every week and leading them in activities- helping with their english.
Did I mention I am still trying to do yoga everyday? (I missed three days recently from sickness. But I am determined to keep challenging myself)
I also have to make 50,000 doctors appointments to complete my medical portion of the PC application that I just received in the mail..... yarg.

I won't be busy at all...... Here's to my sanity.

Gettin' Sweaty

For Christmas I received two skidless yogitoes towels and a new Nike yoga mat.

Want to spend 90 minutes surrounded by minimally dressed, hot n' sweaty people?

Want to spend 90 minutes trying to put your body into positions they may not have been in since you were in yer lil' womb?

Wanna think,
"I'm going to barf"
"I'm going to pass out"
"I can't believe I am doing this"
 "wow! I'm doing this!"
"I've never sweat this much in my life"
 "I'm in hell"
"I feel really good about my body"
 "I think I shouldn't have smoked/drank/ate that before I came"
"I really wish I could punch the instructor in the face"
"Man, that guy is hot"
"Man, I feel hot"
"Why am I doing this?"
"I'm so glad I did this!"

All within 90 minutes?!

Well do Bikram Yoga.
I am starting the 60 day challenge at Yogagroove...
(For newcomers it is only 28 bucks for one month unlimited yoga... woo-hoo!)

60 days of yoga... In a row..... If I miss one, I have to do double on a day.

It'll be hot!

Happy New Years and a (hopefully) new Body.

And I'm still working on getting all the way in to this pose- I'll report my progress as time goes on!

Sometimes I'm smart.

I went to yoga and was gone approximately 3 hours.
During this time I:

Left my apartment window wide open. (I am on the first floor and my computer is under the window)
Left my paper IKEA lamp on. (fire hazard?)
Left my car door windows open while at yoga- and it poured kitties and puppies.

Then I got home from yoga and texted while in the bathtub- which will someday lead to a iphone dropping in the water and drowning.

I also went to yoga not-so-hydrated, but managed to keep from passing out or puking up the absurd amount of coffee I consumed today.

I have put off all exemplars for my lesson plans (anybody want to make a paper-mache mask for me), an art history paper, and other schooly work due soon. I want to fast forward to May and graduate. But then I'm sure when the "real world" is in front of me I will want to rewind and continue to be in college for the rest of my life.

I HAVE almost completed my Peace Corps application, though.
Tell me, how do I answer this without sounding completely cliché?

"1) Your reasons for wanting to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer; and
2) How these reasons are related to your past experiences and life goals."

Florence, Top-o-Duomo, Transport me here pronto

I had good intentions and left out all of my painting goods to go work tonight. But am I going to? Noooo, no no.
I don't even have the energy to make myself food- not even the boxed microwavable variety. And when Jennifer's don't make time for food- something is wrong. I want the Tuscan women from my time in Italy to come live with me and make me this daily. Is that too much to ask?

Mmmmmmm. Sleep.

Goodnight friends.

Gettin' Raw!

So a few months ago, two of my friends and I decided to do a raw fruit and veggie flush.
Only raw fruits, veggies, and water for 7 days.
They both quit within the first day. (My guy friend was a smoker so that got to him)
I lasted 6.5 days.
My fridge looked like this: (No, I didn't drink the beer)

Now I'm feeling like I need to do it again. The last one was really, really successful. I don't know how good or bad this kind of thing really is for the system, but in my case it cut out my sweet tooth considerably, it made me salt my food less, and I dropped 5 pounds- which never came back because my appetite was also greatly cut down.
Lately me being stressed out and busy with school has made me not be very nice to my body so I figure this can't hurt.
I'm also going to get serious about my yoga practice again- by serious I mean going 5-7 times a week. I went the other day and had a really, really good class. I want to keep up with that good feeling, inside and out. My class goal is to do half locust like this guy, hopefully by Christmas, and work on opening up my hips. Yee-haw!

Note: Do NOT try this at home or without a 105 degree room. :)

Here is my fridge now, after an expensive trip to HEB.

I do allow myself nuts as a "fruit" so that I will get some extra fats and protein, yah.

I'm starting tomorrow.  One more day of eating whatever I want. And what have I chosen to eat so far?? Why, sushi of  course!
The most challenging things for me will be not having coffee, bread, or cheese all week. WIsh me and my body luck!
